Salvation Army Relocating Omaha Disaster Resource Center's (DRC) Flood-Relief Supplies to Sarpy-Cass and Council Bluffs DRCs

Apr 7, 2019

In an effort to concentrate critical flood-relief assets in areas of greatest need, The Salvation Army Western Division is moving flood-relief items from its Omaha DRC to its two other metro-area DRCs -- one at Southroads Mall in Bellevue (the Sarpy-Cass DRC) and one in Council Bluffs (the Council Bluffs DRC).

“The need is growing at the Sarpy-Cass DRC and the Council Bluffs DRC,” said Major Greg Thompson, Divisional Commander. “We’re seeing more and more people stopping by those locations and picking up flood-relief items, and fewer people stopping by the Omaha DRC. This move is an effort to more efficiently and effectively meet that need.”  Major Thompson added that people needing flood-relief items are encouraged to go to the Sarpy-Cass DRC or the Council Bluffs DRC going forward.

As part of this move, the Omaha DRC (near 84th and Center) will wind down its operations the week of April 8-12 -- and will cease operations at 5 p.m. Friday, April 12. Until that time, it will remain open to the public, although supplies of flood-relief items will be limited.

PLEASE NOTE:  The Sarpy-Cass DRC and the Council Bluffs DRC will continue operating until further notice. Locations and operating hours for the week of April 8-14 are as follows:

Sarpy-Cass DRC (in the old JC Penney store at Southroads Mall, 1001 Fort Crook Road, Suite 250, Bellevue):

  • Monday, April 8: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 9 – April 13: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 14: 12 noon – 5 p.m.

Council Bluffs DRC (715 N. 16th St.):

  • Monday, April 8 and Thursday, April 11: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 9; Wednesday, April 10; and Friday, April 12: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 13: 9 a.m. – 12 noon
  • Sunday, April 14: closed
