Providing Disaster Relief

The Salvation Army currently is responding simultaneously to three major disasters on top of a global COVID pandemic:

Hurricane Laura in Texas and Louisiana;

Wildfires in California;

and the lingering effects of the rare derecho wind storm in Iowa earlier in August.

Our Unique Response

Because The Salvation Army is already embedded in the communities in which we serve, we are uniquely positioned to serve before, during, and after a disaster strikes:

Response and deployment – food, water, clean-up kits, and hygiene supplies

Spiritual and emotional care – prayer, support, and pastoral care

Long-term recovery – restore social-service programs, implement long-term recovery

How we are serving in impacted areas

The Salvation Army has feet on the ground in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida serving those impacted by Hurricane Laura:

Mobile food pantries and meal programs are on standby across Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas, and incident-management teams have been activated.

The Salvation Army is ready to serve first responders and survivors with food and emotional and spiritual care, as well as long-term help after the hurricane passes.

The Salvation Army is providing emotional and spiritual care for those in the path of the storm via our Hope Hotline at 1-844-458-HOPE (4673).
