Providing Disaster Relief

We’re currently responding simultaneously to an unprecedented number of major hurricanes this year on top of continued response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our Unique Response

Because we’re already embedded in the communities in which we serve, we are uniquely positioned to serve before, during, and after a disaster strikes:

Response and deployment – food, water, cleanup kits (typically includes masks, gloves, a broom/mop, trash bags, cleaning solutions, etc.), and hygiene supplies, like a toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, and soap

Spiritual and emotional care – prayer, support, and pastoral care

Long-term recovery – restore social-service programs (e.g., drug and alcohol rehabilitation, veteran services, after-school support), and implement long-term recovery

How we are serving in impacted areas

We have feet on the ground in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida serving those impacted by recent tropical storms and hurricanes:

To-date, nearly 11,600 meals and over 8,400 snacks have been provided to survivors and first responders

Hurricane Delta

Over 18,000 meals served to date

Hurricane Sally

Over 110,000 meals served

Over 2,700 cleanup kits distributed

Over 80 Salvation Army disaster workers have given 13,956 hours of service

Hurricane Laura

Over 331,000 meals served

Over 7,400 people received emotional and spiritual

300 Salvation Army disaster workers have given over 80,000 hours of service

Hurricane Hanna

Nearly 7,000 meals served

Over 5,000 snacks/drinks served

Provided additional supplies such as cleanup kits, bleach, tarps, trash bags, and fans for survivors
